What: To shine light on the struggles and support the movers and the shakers in our community, HELCIM and The Ace Class have collaborated to present Founders, a curated series designed for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs. Snyder Institute Mini Medical School – Understanding the biology of pain and itch

What: Mini Medical School is a free lecture series designed for members of the general public who are interested in learning more about their health and wellness. Each lecture will combine basic science with real life clinical situations in order to give Calgarians a better understanding of the effects of certain diseases on the body. On April 8, explore the unique biology of chronic pain and itch.

Erín Moure’s The Elements

What: Governor General’s award winning poet and translator Erín Moure returns for her first reading in downtown Calgary in a decade, just a few streets from where she was born. She’ll launch The Elements, her new book of poems about her Dad, parents, translation, and sticking up for your rights, and answer audience questions about growing up in Calgary in the 1960s and about poetry. She’s also bringing colouring pages for children to bring home.

Pink Boots Beer Launch: The Betty

What: A collaboration brew bringing the ladies of Trolley 5 & YWCA together to create a beer in honour of International Women’s Day: The Betty White Peach Cream Ale. Portion of proceeds from each pint sold at our launch party will go to support YWCA Calgary and Pink Boots Society.

Heritage Park Ghost Tours 2019

What: Curious Calgarians will have a chance to learn about the ghostly figures that haunt their city by taking a Heritage Park Ghost Tour this spring. Each tour is 90 minutes long and will take attendees through the alleyways and streets of the Historical Village and verse them in various spooky stories that will make their skin crawl. They depart from Gasoline Alley at 7 and 7:30 pm, though the truly terrified would be wise to choose the earlier, brighter tour.

What: Picture this…film festival is an international disability film festival. Enjoy a celebration of films by and/or about people with disabilities from around the world. Everyone is welcome and popcorn is free.

Mount Norquay Cool2CarPool Days

What: The hill’s new Cool2CarPool Day introduces a new pay structure, with each carload costing just $50 — which means that if you can fit five friends into a five-seat sedan, you’re all riding for $10. That price will drop even lower if any of your pals (or their parents) happen to drive a minivan. Anyone who takes the free shuttle in from Banff will also get to hit the slopes for just $10, though it’s encouraged to start the day early as space is limited.

The mountain will also be accepting cash donations that go towards local charities within the Bow Valley and Calgary area, and $2 from every lift ticket will be automatically donated.

Augmented Reality Experience at The CORE 2019

What: An augmented reality exhibit is soon to open at Calgary’s The CORE Shopping Centre, in partnership with UK-based technology provider INDE. Attendees will stand on a platform in front of a gigantic screen, which will show them standing alongside everything from whales to giraffes to dinosaurs. Three different experiences will be available to try out, — Air, Land, and Sea; Arctic Explorer; and Back to the Jurassic — with each providing a different setting along with different animals to encounter.

Moon vs. Sun

What: One of Canada’s most influential cultural couples – four-time Juno Award-winner Raine Maida (frontman with Our Lady Peace) and two-time winner Chantal Kreviazuk — are starting a new era of music which promises to be fearless. They perform at Bella Concert Hall with special guests. Every ticket for this show includes a digital download of Moon vs Sun’s forthcoming album, I’m Going to Break Your Heart (Music From The Motion Picture).

2019 Calgary Dance Stampede

What: Calgary Dance Stampede is Canada’s largest and longest running Country, West Coast Swing and Line Dance event.
