Major milestone hit on new 14-storey East Village building in downtown Calgary
Construction has officially begun on a new East Village development that will add over 200 new homes to the downtown Calgary community.
The 14-storey mixed-use project, called Vibe, will deliver 218 rental units and six commercial spaces, according to the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC).
“We’re thrilled that our partners at Slokker Homes are starting construction on their new project and look forward to welcoming new residents and retailers to East Village when Vibe opens in a few short years,” said Kate Thompson, president and CEO of CMLC, in a release.
The project is expected to be completed in early 2028. The building is part of the second phase of Slokker Homes’ Q Block investment, following the completion of the Verve building in 2019.

The new building is set to feature some amenities like a dog wash and bike wash on the first level, and the second floor will include a mix of indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, designed for working from home, hosting barbecues, or small social gatherings.
The rooftop will feature additional indoor and outdoor seating areas, including a lounge space surrounding an outdoor water feature with views of the Calgary skyline and the Bow River.
The development is part of a broader plan of projects in East Village, including Library Square, which is currently under construction, and future builds such as “The Edgewater,” a nine-storey building that will offer approximately 170 residential units, “Lyric,” a 208-unit residential building from Ayrshire Group, and a five-storey hotel, complete with 132 rooms from Truman.
