From mindful meditation rooms to unlimited snacks, sit-stand desks, and paid time off to volunteer for your favourite charity, there are lots of Calgary companies that boast serious work-life benefits.
And good news — they are all looking for full-time and part-time staff to add to their teams.
This month’s list of companies who are hiring features Home Depot, Amazon, and the City of Calgary itself.

Home Depot
CNW Group / The Home Depot of Canada Inc.
- Who: The Home Depot has announced that it is hiring for 850 positions across Alberta, with openings available for full-time, part-time, and seasonal workers.
- Jobs: Any Albertan hoping to apply to become an overnight associate, sales associate, cashier, lot associate, specialty associate, or department supervisor need only text the words “Home Depot Jobs” to 97211 to apply.
- Perks: All permanent Home Depot employees enjoy benefits that include health, maternity and paternity leave, bonus plans, employee stock purchases, time off, tuition reimbursement, retirement plans, care programs, and discounts on group home and car insurance.
City of Calgary Census

- Who: The City of Calgary has begun accepting applications for workers to help with their 2020 census.
- Jobs: Positions include Census Outreach Worker and Census Taker. The city plans to hire upwards of 700 Calgarians for short-term jobs.
- Pay: $15 an hour for Census Outreach Workers, $1.25 for every dwelling with information collected and $0.50 for every dwelling with no occupants for Census Takers.
Calaway Park

- Who: Calaway Park is hiring 660 seasonal team members as they get ready for the summer fun.
- Jobs: Food and Beverage, Game Operator, Grounds and Maintenance, Retail and Admissions, Ride Operator for entry level positions. Key positions include Campground Representative, Department Captain, Entertainer, Security, and Landscaping.
- Pay: Starts at $15/hour.
Bird Canada

- Who: Bird Scooters will be back on Calgary’s streets before we know it, and the company is hiring for seven different positions to keep their fleet rolling smoothly.
- Jobs: Bird is hiring in Calgary for an Associate General Manager, Full-time Bird Watchers, Part-time Bird Watchers, Afternoon Field Associates, Morning Field Associates, Night Field Associates, and a Fleet Technician.
- Perks: Benefits include healthcare, childcare support, a wellness stipend, and time off.
Calgary YMCA

- Who: Calgary boasts two of the largest YMCA facilities in the entire world (along with several other smaller locations) and features a wide range of roles for potential applicants to fill.
- Jobs: Calgary YMCA is hiring for 52 positions this month, ranging from Member Services Supervisor to Assistant Summer Day Camp Coordinator.
- Perks: Perks include a complimentary membership, health and dental benefits, pension plans, program discounts, and more.
Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation

- Who: Love the Flames so much you’d want to work within the Saddledome itself? Well, you’re in luck. There are plenty of opportunities available with the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation.
- Jobs: There are eight external opportunities currently available, including Dishwasher, Cook, Security Guard, and Ticketing Coordinator.
- Perks: Perks are not specified on the site, but hey, you get to be in the Saddledome on game days.

- Who: The online delivery giant has made a big splash by opening a fulfillment centre near Calgary, and there are plenty of jobs available.
- Jobs: 19 jobs are up for grabs, including Area Manager of Logistics, Shift Manager, EHS Specialist, and Onsite Medical Representative.
- Perks: Amazon benefits include health, dental, vision, company-paid disability, life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and restricted stock units.
Calgary Stampede

- Who: The Calgary Stampede is in charge of throwing the Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth every July, though there are also lots that the organization does in the off-season as well.
- Jobs: The Calgary Stampede is hiring for 15 part- or full-time positions, including Digital Marketing Lead, HR Assistant, Operating Engineer, and Sales Manager.
- Perks: “The Calgary Stampede offers a unique and exciting work environment, an excellent total compensation package, and the opportunity for advancement and employee training.”
Chinook Centre

- Who: Chinook Centre is home to dozens of retailers ranging from clothing to food to electronics.
- Jobs: Chinook Centre’s jobs page is currently showing 14 available positions and roughly 200 other stores that are “collecting interest.” Stores that have open positions include Bluenotes, The Body Shop, Indochino, MAC, and Nordstrom.

University of Calgary

- Who: UofC is the city’s largest university, spread across five campuses, and home to thousands of employees.
- Jobs: The jobs page at UofC’s website shows 96 positions currently available for application, with everything from Campus Security to various scholar positions.

Winsport

- Who: Winsport is the owner and operator of Canada Olympic Park, the Bill Warren Training Centre at the Canmore Nordic Centre in Canmore Alberta, and the Beckie Scott High Performance Training Centre on Haig Glacier Alberta.
- Jobs: Winsport is currently looking to fill three full-time positions; Executive Assistant, Facility Maintenance Technician, and Safety Specialist. There are also nine part-time jobs, including Rink Attendant, Catering Team Member, Cook, and Sport Services Assistant.

- Who: The City of Calgary is in charge of everything from public transit and leisure services to making sure the city doesn’t go broke, so there are plenty of opportunities across a wide range of positions.
- Jobs: A total of 31 jobs are currently on offer with the City of Calgary, including positions such as Truck and Transport Technician, Planner, Swim Instructor, Seasonal Gardener, and Finance Portfolio Manager.
- Perks: Perks vary per position, though all employees will enjoy the security that comes from working for a company that literally cannot go under.
