Calgary just ranked as one of the best places to live in 2025

If you were looking for another reason to brag about calling Calgary home, here it is.
Real estate platform Zolo has just named Calgary as one of the best places to live in Canada in 2025.
Zolo’s ranking is based on eight key factors: home price, household income, population growth, unemployment rate, crime rate, access to a primary healthcare provider, sunny days per year, and walkability.
Calgary came in at number 10 on the list. The benchmark home price in Calgary currently sits at $567,900, and the cost of living is seven per cent lower than the national average.

According to the ranking, the average Calgary household income sits at $129,200 per year, and the biggest industries in the city are aerospace, energy, and technology.
“Many Canadians have been moving to western Canada over the last several years in search of lower home prices and job opportunities. Additionally, Calgary boasts some of the highest after-tax incomes in the country.”Â
The ranking also notes Calgary as being an excellent place for families due to its recreation facilities and being home to Alberta’s Children’s Hospital, which was ranked as one of the best pediatric hospitals in the world earlier this year.
Out of 365 days, Calgary came in with 333 sunny days per year, and scored a 39 walk score. The city got a 63.3 on the Crime Severity Index, and held an eight per cent unemployment rate.
Calgary was the only Alberta destination to make the list. Guelph & District took the top spot on the list, being noted for its higher-than-average household income, low unemployment rates, and being one of the safest cities in Ontario.
Saskatoon and Halifax followed in second and third place, respectively, with Saskatoon being praised for its affordable housing and having one of the lowest costs of living among major cities. At the same time, Halifax was touted for its outdoor lifestyle and walkability.Â
