Two Calgary spots are finalists for Air Canada's Best New Restaurants for 2026

Air Canada has revealed the finalists for its annual list of Canada’s best new restaurants, and two Calgary spots have made the cut.
Both Penny Crown Tavern and Sushi Jun have secured a spot as finalists on the Best New Restaurants 2026 list, with a chance of scoring a place on the coveted top 10 list, which will be revealed this fall.
Penny Crown Tavern has been brought to life by the team behind the acclaimed Italian restaurant, DOPO.

Modelled after taverns often seen in New York, Penny Crown has become a firm favourite for many Calgarians, with a lot of love shown to its signature Tavern Burger, which is made with a thick Alberta Wagyu patty and topped with house-made American cheese, caramelized onions, and house remoulade.

Also making the list of 30 finalists is Sushi Jun, the refined Edomae omakase experience, headed by Chef Jun Young Park. Hosted out of Ryuko’s South location, Sushi Jun is dedicated to careful aging and precise preparation.
Air Canada’s top 10 list will be revealed on Nov. 16, and we’ll be cheering on our Calgary restaurants.
