It’s only been open for a few weeks, but the newest eatery on 17th Avenue, Calcutta Cricket Club, has already made a great first impression.

Aside from the fact that sitting in the spot feels like you’re on vacation – we’re talking lush greens, playful prints, and bamboo furniture – Calcutta has a menu to drool for, and people have been drooling since it opened on July 6.

This spot only serves up dinner service, but with that comes a plethora of Indian food and drink inspired by the West Bengal state in India.

Offerings include dishes such as Phuchkas (spherical fried semolina filled with potato), Bhutta (roasted corn on the cob), Chili Chicken, Kati Rolls, Curries, and Paneer and Honey to name a few.

Beverages include a selection of craft cocktails, wines, and beers.

Whether you’re coming in for a quick bite, a long and leisurely meal, or even a cheeky drink, a stop at the Calcutta Cricket Club is bound to be different than anything you’ve experienced in the Calgary dining scene before.

I mean, they’ve got a shiny spirit leopard over the bar – if nothing else, go for the ‘Gram.

Calcutta Cricket Club is open Sunday to Thursday from 4 pm to 11 pm and Friday and Saturday from 4 pm to 1 am.
