Calaway Park planning to reopen to the public later this month

It may be a little later than usual, but Calaway Park will be open for business this summer.

As with basically everything, the amusement park had been temporarily closed as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

However, since the Province of Alberta decided to enact Stage 2 of its Relaunch Strategy, the park has been working on its plans for reopening, which were officially announced on July 3.

Calaway Park stated in a release that it will be opening its doors to the public as of July 17, though there will be some changes in place to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.

“We have actively worked with Alberta Health and the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions to ensure that our park experience meets and exceeds COVID-19 safety expectations,” the release states.

“We would like to thank the teams at Alberta Health and the Government of Alberta for their leadership as they continue to navigate this unprecedented time.”

According to the park, there will be a new admission entry reservation system in place to ensure that it does not go over its capacity limit.

There will also be increased sanitization of rides, a health and wellness questionnaire before entering, physical distancing measures, the strong recommendation of face masks, and a number of rides that remain temporarily closed during Stage 2.

Hours of operation will run from 10 am to 5 pm.
