The largest YMCA in the world will open its aquatic pools to Calgarians and visitors alike this Friday.
The Brookfield Residential YMCA, a 330,000-sq-ft behemoth in Calgary’s Seton neighbourhood, opened its doors on January 14, allowing visitors access to amenities including fitness centres, ice rinks, and a branch of the Calgary Library.

What it didn’t open back in January, however, were the multiple pools, water slides, and hot tubs making up the Y’s aquatic section, as construction delays stalled completion of that section of the building.

There is good news on the horizon, as the long wait is finally coming to an end.
YMCA Calgary expects to open its pools to the public on Friday, March 1, and will be hosting a YMCA Community Pool Opening Celebration from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, March 2.
Come Friday, YMCA members and guest will have access to a diver tower, a leisure pool, a 10-lane competition pool, two water slides, two hot tubs, a steam room, and the highly-anticipated Flowrider — a surfing and bodyboard simulator.

A drop-in visit to the YMCA cost $16 for adults, $11.25 for young adults (18 to 25), $9.50 for youth (12 to 17), and $8.75 for seniors (65+).
Monthly memberships for adults come in at $75, $58 for young adults, $36 for youth, and $49.50 for seniors.
