New restaurant with a rooftop patio and river views is set to open in Calgary this summer

Just in time for the summer, Calgary is getting a brand-new rooftop restaurant experience.

Bow & Bend is opening on the 12th floor of the new Element by Westin Calgary Downtown on 4th Avenue SW, where it aims to offer a relaxed and refined dining experience with views of the Bow River.

The open-concept restaurant will feature huge windows, a sleek design, and a rooftop patio to enjoy the sunshine. Between the dining room, patio, and two private rooms, the space will seat around 210 people.

Its menu has been carefully crafted by Head Chef Ashutosh Salunke, previously the executive sous chef at Sparkling Hill Resort & Spa in Vernon, B.C., featuring shareable small plates, salads, soups, house-made pasta, burgers, and mains made with locally sourced Alberta ingredients.

“Our shareable menu will change slightly from season to season, allowing guests to both try new things and order classic favourites,” says Salunke.

The Element and Bow & Bend restaurant form part of a broader transformation of an underutilized office tower in partnership with the City of Calgary’s Downtown Development Incentive Program.

Bow & Bend will be open Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., and until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. It will also run a brunch service on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The spot is expected to open in early summer.
