A junior RCMP constable still on probation with the Langley, BC detachment has been charged with assault in connection with a stabbing that occurred at an Edmonton fast food restaurant in 2013.
The suspect fled the scene, and two people suffered serious injuries.
Benjamen Kozlovich was arrested in Chilliwack on March 12, on unendorsed warrants for Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
Police noted in a release that the alleged assault took place before Kozlovich joined the RCMP.
Police said the arrest came about after new information gathered by Edmonton Police Service in January of this year was shared with the BC RCMP.
Now, the BC RCMP said it has launched an internal investigation and is assessing the member’s employment status.
Kozlovich completed RCMP training in January 2018.
He has made his first appearance in court and has been released on bail.
