Looking for a job?

The gigantic, 600,000-sq-ft Amazon fulfillment centre in Balzac, Alberta has finally begun taking applications for 1,000 full-time positions.

The centre was first announced last October and has been under construction ever since. A tour of the new facility was given in June, and Amazon reps even stopped by the Calgary Stampede to share some information about what the new jobs would be like during a pancake breakfast.

Hiring for the centre has now begun, according to a release from Amazon, and those who land jobs as associates will be picking, packing, and shipping customer items out of the facility.

Full-time workers will receive day-one benefits that include medical, dental, and visual insurance, along with performance-based bonuses, RSP plan, company stock awards, and competitive hourly wages.

The release also states that employees will be eligible for Amazon’s Career Choice program, which pays up to 95% of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields — even if they don’t have any relevance to a career at Amazon.

Those looking to apply can fill out an application form at the company’s website, must be at least 18-years-old, and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Pay starts at $15.75 per hour.
