It has been a snow-filled start to the week for most of Alberta, with some areas reporting nearly 40 centimetres of snow since yesterday.

A new report by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has shed light on just how much of the fluffy stuff fell on Alberta, and boy oh boy did some spots get walloped.

“The first significant snowfall of the season fell over parts of the province beginning Monday. Snow is still accumulating over southern parts of the province today,” the folks at ECCC stated.

If you are curious, we spoke to an expert at ECCC and they combed through the past 10 years of data for when the first significant snowfall in Edmonton and Calgary occurred. Take a look!
