
Winter is just around the corner, and that means it’s just about time to hit the slopes. Alberta’s ski hills are gearing up for another season of fresh powder, cozy lodges, and adrenaline-filled runs.
From the heart of the Rocky Mountains to ski resorts near the bigger cities, here’s when Alberta’s ski resorts are set to open for the 2025/26 season.
Lake Louise

The popular ski resort, located just outside Banff, has announced its opening date for this year as Nov. 7, 2025. It also announced the opening of a new terrain area, scheduled for Spring 2026.

Castle Mountain

Nestled in the Westcastle Valley of southwest Alberta, Castle Mountain Resort has a tentative opening date of Dec. 5, 2025.

Marmot Basin

Marmot Basin is projected to open in mid-November this year, and season passes are on sale.

Sunshine Village

Sunshine Village, located just outside Banff, has set a tentative opening date for Nov. 8, 2025. Banff was even just named one of the best places to ski in the world.

Rabbit Hill

Rabbit Hill has yet to announce an opening date; however, it typically opens in mid-November. A brand-new winter tube park is coming to Rabbit Hill this year.

Snow Valley in Edmonton has not yet released an opening date, but historical patterns indicate it typically opens in mid-November. Season passes for the 2025/26 season are on sale, which are valid from November 2025 to March 2026.

According to its website, Sunridge has announced a tentative opening date of Dec. 7, 2025, with the early season beginning on Dec. 6.

Nakiska has set a tentative opening date for Nov. 28, 2025. It is also hosting three preview weekends: Nov. 8 to 11, Nov. 15 to 16, and Nov. 22 to 23.
