An iconic ski resort in Alberta will be opening a new terrain pod for visitors to enjoy, and it will be available to shred in mere months.

The Lake Louise Ski Resort in Banff National Park says that after many years of planning, the first phase of its newest terrain addition, Richardson’s Ridge, is in the works.

The resort stated that this season, the Richardson’s Ridge Express detachable high-speed quad will transport skiers and riders to five new beginner and intermediate runs and cruisy, natural glades.

“With spectacular views down Pika Valley and to Mt. Temple beyond, Richardson’s Ridge offers exciting new terrain for the whole family to explore and is similar in size to our existing Larch area,” the resort said.

This first phase of Richardson’s Ridge is just the first step of many that the resort is completing to enhance the experience, and it will welcome guests into this 200-acre terrain pod suited to skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels.

Looking to the future, Lake Louise Ski Resort added that its long-range plan for this area also envisions selective glading in advanced/expert areas and a surface lift connection from Temple Lodge.

The Richardson’s Ridge area builds on recent transformational projects over the past five years, including the addition of the Summit Quad and the opening of West Bowl, the new Juniper Express and Learning Area, and the new Pipestone Express Heated Bubble six-pack, which was introduced last year.

The Lake Louise ski resort is scheduled to open Nov. 7, while Richardson’s Ridge is scheduled to open by early spring 2026.
