Some people dream of taking a tropical vacation after winning the lottery, but one Alberta man says he plans to travel to B.C. with his newfound windfall.

Francis Morin has dreams of seeing the ocean after winning $1,000,000 on a $20 Western Million Scratch & Win ticket.

The Spedden local told the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) that he has plans to visit British Columbia with the windfall, mentioning the aspiration of visiting Victoria and taking the ferry.

“Standing on the deck, you can see out to the city,” he told the WCLC. “I’d like to do that!”

Morin says he discovered the win while drinking coffee with his daughter.

“My daughter helped me [to scratch it] and she saw that it was a million dollars first,” he explained. “She was jumping around and screaming— I was still drinking my coffee.”

He added that he didn’t believe that he had scored big playing the lottery at first and that he doesn’t buy scratch tickets very often.

Morin purchased his winning $20 Western Million Scratch & Win ticket from Boyne Lake General Store on Highway 866 in Boyne Lake.

Morin is the second Alberta lottery winner to make the news lately with some love for B.C. — earlier this month a $30,000,000 lottery winner expressed his hopes to ditch the province and move to B.C. for “nicer weather and property on the waterfront.”
