Alberta health officials to provide live COVID-19 update this afternoon

Dec 1 2020, 5:00 pm

Health officials in Alberta will provide a live update on COVID-19 on Tuesday afternoon.

A release from the Province of Alberta notes that Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will speak via live stream at a press conference at 3:30 pm MST.

This will be the first press conference held updating the province about coronavirus since Monday, which marked a switch to at-home learning for Alberta students in grades 7 through 12.

“With students in Grade 7 to 12 moving to online learning today, we can expect to see a reduction in the number of cases, outbreaks, and alerts attributed to schools in the coming days,” Hinshaw said at the Monday press conference.

Alberta has seen cases rise over the past month, with active cases reaching over 16,000 and has since surpassed Ontario and Quebec to become the Canadian province with the highest active case count.

Albertans can view the live press conference at the YourAlberta YouTube channel at 3:30 pm MST.
