Health officials in Alberta will provide a live update on COVID-19 on Friday afternoon.

A release from the Province of Alberta notes that Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw and Minister of Justice and Solicitor General Kaycee Madu will speak via livestream at a press conference at 3:30 pm MST.

This will be the first press conference held updating the province about coronavirus since Thursday when Hinshaw spoke to the leaked audio recorders of her during confidential pandemic planning meetings.

A number of new restrictions for businesses and services throughout Alberta come into effect today, as Premier Jason Kenney announced on Tuesday.

Alberta has seen cases rise over the past month, with active cases surpassing the 10,000 mark last week.

Alberta has since surpassed Ontario and Quebec to become the Canadian province with the highest active case count at 13,349 as of November 24.

Albertans will be able to view the live press conference at the YourAlberta YouTube channel at 3:30 pm MST.
