A 3:20 pm update from the Province of Alberta states that the press conference has been postponed to 4:30 pm.

Health officials in Alberta will provide a live update on COVID-19 on Monday afternoon.

A release from the Province of Alberta notes that Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will speak via live stream at a press conference at 3:30 pm.

This will be the first press conference held updating the province about coronavirus since last Thursday, which saw the implementation of new public health measures aimed at reducing the spread of the virus.

Alberta saw cases rise over the weekend, with 991 new cases on Sunday contributing to the now 9,618 known active cases throughout the province.

The newest public health measures put an end to most indoor team sports and performances and encouraged Albertans in areas under enhanced measures to avoid hosting social gatherings at their homes.

“COVID-19 is challenging us, and we have to rise to this test,” Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said at the November 12 press conference.

“We have to bend the curve back down to support our healthcare system to protect vulnerable Albertans, to keep schools open, and to prevent further damage to people’s livelihoods and the economy at a time of great adversity.”

Albertans will be able to view the live press conference at the YourAlberta YouTube channel at 3:30 pm MST.
