A city just outside Calgary is getting its first-ever outdoor pool

Airdrie is getting its first-ever outdoor pool as construction begins on a new community hub in one of its fastest-growing neighbourhoods.
The outdoor pool will be part of Minto’s new Hillside Hub, which will serve as the homeowners’ association facility for the Wildflower community in southwest Airdrie.
Construction on the hub, located at 1215 Fowler Rd. SW in Airdrie, officially began on Wednesday, July 22, following a groundbreaking ceremony. The facility is expected to open in 2027, and it’s shaping up to include more than just an outdoor pool.
According to Minto, the Hillside Hub is intended to bring residents together through a mix of recreational, wellness and social amenities available year-round.

The Hillside Hub will feature a year-round hot tub, a seasonal skating rink and sledding hill, a multi-sport court, wellness rooms, universal change rooms, private greenspace, pickleball courts, a playground and additional spaces designed for recreation and community gatherings, designed for residents to connect year-round.
While the new pool marks a first for Airdrie, the facility will only be available to Wildflower residents and will not be open to the general public.

This isn’t the only project happening in Airdrie. City council just approved accelerated construction on a $230-million rec centre.
