A 19-year-old died in Calgary late last night.

The Calgary Police Service issued a release stating that the young man died in hospital as a result of the serious injuries he received just after 10 pm Monday night.

He had been in a 2009 BMW with three other men — two 20-year-olds and another 19-year-old — when the driver lost control of the car.

The vehicle struck a concrete barrier on Sunridge Way SE, according to the release, and was directed eastward into the barriers separating 36th Street NE and the CTrain right-of-way.

The other three men all received minor injuries.

Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the fatal crash, though are still investigating to determine whether or not speed had been.

Police are also asking anyone with information on the incident to contact their non-emergency line at 403-266-1234.
