17-year-old girl dies following serious collision in Airdrie

One person is dead and two others are injured following a fatal car crash in Airdrie on Wednesday.

A release from Airdrie RCMP states that a serious collision occurred at Range Road 285 and Highway 567, stopping traffic in the area.

An update from police stated that a 17-year-old female had been driving eastbound when she lost control of her vehicle due to bad weather and collided with a westbound vehicle.

The girl died at the scene, according to the release, while two elderly persons were taken to hospital.

Their injuries are currently undetermined, though police confirm that both had been in the second vehicle at the time of the collision.
