15-year-old boy killed in Calgary, suspect in custody

An investigation into a fatal assault from Wednesday morning is ongoing.

At roughly 5 am, a 15-year-old boy was assaulted at a residence near Memorial Drive E and 52nd Street NE in the Marlborough Park neighbourhood.

According to a news release from the Calgary Police Service, the boy was taken to the hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police said that they have a suspect in custody, and that there is no risk to the public.

The address where the assault took place is confirmed by police as the same location where a 2016 homicide occurred, which saw the death of 24-year-old Tyler Sanderson.
