The Vancouver Bandits have made a splash signing ahead of the new CEBL season.

The team announced today that they have signed basketball social media star Tristan Jass (also known as T-Jass) to a professional contract. Jass has over 10 million followers across all platforms and more than five million subscribers on YouTube alone.

Last year, Jass worked out with the CEBL’s Scarborough Shooting Stars, which helped him land this deal. He’s also played in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.

“Tristan has clearly developed a skill set worthy of competing with pros at a high level,” said Bandits head coach and general manager Kyle Julius in a press release. “We are all really excited to see what he can do in our system with our guys.”

Jass is known for his excellent dribbling talent and impressive layups, which often go viral on social media. However, he has never played organized basketball at a level higher than high school.

“Obviously, I’ve never played college ball, I’ve never played pro ball, and this league is signing people who have played in the NBA, overseas. This is a real, legit basketball league,” said Jass in a YouTube video explaining the signing.

“I’m super excited to be working day in and day out, there might even be some late nights in the gym getting extra shots up. I know they have a whole staff of trainers, coaches, and strength and conditioning coaches, it’s going to be the real deal, so I’m excited for that.”

The 25-year-old also said there will be a camera crew following him during his time with the Bandits, which should result in some cool behind-the-scenes content.

The Bandits play their first regular season game on May 15, and the schedule runs through August 10. Jass will fly to Canada shortly to begin training camp with the team, which starts on May 6. Tickets for different Bandits games this season are on sale now.

The Bandits came second in the CEBL last season. Some of their players have gone on to sign NBA contracts, including Tazé Moore, who signed with the Portland Trail Blazers.
