A 22-year-old man drowned while swimming with friends in Cultus Lake Saturday.
Sgt. Forbes Cavanagh with the Chilliwack RCMP said the man was swimming with two friends when he went under and didn’t resurface.
“It was a tragic accident,” Cavanagh told Daily Hive, adding there’s nothing criminal or suspicious about the death.
The man’s body was pulled from the water in the afternoon, but he could not be resuscitated, he said.

The BC Coroner’s Service is now handling the case, Cavanagh said. That agency investigates all sudden deaths in the province. Daily Hive has reached out for more details, but has not yet heard back.
