Young girl followed and chased by men in van: Vancouver Police

Dec 20 2017, 2:46 am

The Vancouver Police Department say a young girl was followed and asked to get in a grey mini van by two men on Thursday.

The 14-year-old said she was walking in the area of 17th Avenue and Fraser Street when the men started honking at her and gesturing for her to come to the van. She ignored them and continued to walk when one of the men got out, called to her to get in the van while the other man stayed inside.

The young girl, now scared for her safety, ran into a coffee shop nearby. The man entered the same coffee shop, but said nothing and did not make an attempt to grab or touch the girl before leaving on his own.

The man is described at six feet tall, white, with a medium to heavy build in his early to mid 50s. He was wearing jeans, a black toque and a dark hoodie under a green zip-up jacket.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the VPD Sex Crimes Unit at 604-717-2634 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
