Just playing, it is our lowly cousin to the south Vancouver, Washington that is considering changing its name to Fort Vancouver in order to distinguish itself from us. Apparently many Americans and Canadians get confused when they arrive in Vancouver, Washington. This will be their third attempt at a name change.
I don’t see why there should be any confusion, one is in the States and the other in Canada. Perhaps, people are more geographically challenged then I thought. Do Americans also confuse London, Ontario with London, England? How about Paris, Ontario or Fucking, Austria (real town click the Wikipedia link)?
In the end they should just be happy with the fact that come February 2010 a handful of Americans are going to show up at their doorstep looking for the winter Olympics. After they milk that opportunity then by all means change your name, it just makes more sense to capitalize on the name first, no?
