If you could work for any company in B.C., who would it be?

If you’ve got big dreams to work in one of B.C.’s top public or private sector companies, you’re not alone.

A recent survey by Insights West asking 3,328 British Columbians “If you could work for any company in B.C., who would it be?” revealed that there’s a very specific list of most desirable companies to work for in 2015.

The poll also divulged that just about a third of those surveyed aren’t overly happy with their current employer. In good news, however, 48 per cent of people are “happy” with their jobs and 20 percent are “delighted”.

Among top contributors to work-place satisfaction were compensation (the most powerful benefit for job seekers), flexibility of work hours, better medical benefits, better bonuses and profit sharing opportunities and more opportunities for advancement.

“It is interesting to note that not only does strong Employer Branding have a positive impact on the workforce so does the organization’s purpose, values, commitment to social responsibility and leadership strength,” Steve Mossop, President of Insights West, added as another contributing factor to what companies made the list.

As for the voting process, Insights West stated that “employed British Columbians were asked to think specifically about as many as three organizations that currently operate in the province and would qualify as their ‘Dream Employer’.”

Out of 7,070 votes total, 41 per cent of people chose private sector companies, 39 per cent chose public sector companies, five per cent chose the non-profit sector and 15 per cent chose to be self-employed.
