Woman killed in early morning Downtown Eastside shooting: VPD

A woman was shot and killed in an early morning shooting that took place in a Downtown Eastside social housing building.

According to police, officers were called to the Arco Hotel at Pender and Abbott streets at 4 am. When they arrived on the scene, they discovered a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

VPD says the suspect fled prior to police arriving on scene and no arrests have been made. The victim has not been identified.

This is the city’s third homicide of 2021.
