Feeling down? This group will send you an encouraging postcard
In need of a pick-me-up or a few words of positivity to remind you why you’re awesome?
With Love From Powtown is a free encouragement project that sends positive messages via postcards.
The project was founded by Cory Ashworth who was inspired by his friend Jeff Hamada of BOOOOOOOM.com.

“[Hamada] did a project in Hawaii for a street art event called POW WOW … he asked people to request encouragement and had street artists at the event respond. I loved it and always had it in the back of my mind as something I would like to recreate,” Ashworth told Daily Hive.
“I love communication and the art of letter writing. There is something so open about sending a postcard — combining that with the fact that you could send a complete stranger encouragement that they have specifically requested … just seems fascinating to me.”
Ashworth recently moved to Powell River, BC, (also known as Powtown) and he decided that the postcard project “would be a great way to create a community event that gives back.”
To request a postcard, all you have to do is go to the With Love From Powtown website and fill out an encouragement form.
A Powtown resident will then write you a postcard with a kind message Each card features an illustration from local artist Meghan Hildebrand.

Ashworth says that encouragement requests range from people needing a pick-me-up after a breakup to those asking for a friendly message because they have moved to a new city.
When a request is made, only the postcard writer sees your first name and message. Your address is added after, meaning all contact information remains private.
“It’s been so heartwarming to see people reaching out for the encouragement and it makes me so happy knowing that they will be getting a postcard from a complete stranger.”
They are taking requests until Feb. 15.
On February 16, With Love From Powtown will be setting up at Powell River Public Library to host a postcard writing session.
So, if you’re in need of some encouragement soon, send in your requests and expect a positive postcard response in your mailbox within the coming days.
