Wine Wednesday: L'Orangeraie Rose

Dec 19 2017, 3:23 pm

While it’s not quite summer weather here in Vancouver just yet, it is time to plan those summer getaways and patio spots. My favourite wine to sip in the summer is rose: it’s refreshing, light and pairs well with a lot of different foods. This label is just beautiful if you ask me, perfect for setting the patio table on a summer’s day!

Food pairings

I love pairing rose with different types of food to see how well it does. Because it is so light, you can drink it on it’s own, but you can also pair it with seemingly unsuspecting foods. Grilled shrimp tacos would be a great pairing with this wine, because the spicy flavours of Mexican food would be complimented by the citrus and light flavour. Another great pairing is fish, because the acidity in the wine will cut through the oil in the fish. Try it out with your latest meal and see how it pairs! It’s hard to mess this one up!

Flavour profile

This wine is from the south of France (Pays D’Oc specifically). Can’t you just picture sipping this in St. Tropez on the beach? That vision is exactly what this wine tastes like: fresh, satisfying and completely carefree. A little bit of citrus on the tongue, with grapefruit and lime as the strongest flavours. There is a little bit of a floral aroma on the nose.
