Environment Canada is warning of high winds in Metro Vancouver throughout the day.
“An intense Pacific low will move across the Lower Mainland today,” said the weather agency, adding that “very strong southeast wind gusts” between 70 km/h and 90 km/h are expected.
Earlier this morning, a wind warning was issued for the following areas:
- Metro Vancouver – southeast including Surrey and Langley
- Metro Vancouver – southwest including Richmond and Delta
The winds will drop below Environment Canada’s warning level this afternoon but “will remain brisk” until late evening.

“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.”
A snowfall warning also remains in effect for Metro Vancouver, as accumulations of up to 25 cm are expected in some areas.
