Environment Canada issues wind warning for parts of Metro Vancouver

Nov 27 2019, 1:59 pm

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning as strong — and potentially damaging — gusts are expected in parts of Metro Vancouver today.

According to the weather agency, the winds are due to “an arctic ridge of high pressure over the BC interior” that intensified Tuesday evening.

The warning is effect for southeast Metro Vancouver, including Surrey and Langley.

“Strong northeasterly outflow winds with gusts up to 90 km/h will also develop early Wednesday morning for the western and central Fraser Valley as well as southeast sections of Metro Vancouver including Surrey and Langley,” says Environment Canada.

“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.”

The winds are expected to ease by Wednesday night.
