An Earls-hosted picnic is taking over Stanley Park this weekend

With Vancouver weather finally starting to take a turn in a sunnier direction, it’s prime time to get outdoors and enjoy the incoming heat.

While an outdoor picnic sounds like a great idea, don’t forget the hassle, planning, necessary transportation, and sometimes unexpected costs that come with hosting an outdoor feast.

Why not leave the cooking to the pros and put that money towards an awesome cause?

On Saturday, July 14, the Whole Way House will be hosting their 6th annual Family Picnic in the Park.

The event creates a fun and memorable day for the 133 vulnerable seniors and veterans that are served at the Whole Way House in the Downtown Eastside, with the invitation extended to families and individuals across the lower mainland.

Food is taken care of, with Earls Restaurant grilling burgers, ribs, and corn on the cob right before your eyes.

Live music, lawn games, a classic car show, and a silent auction (including classes at the Dirty Apron, golf passes, and free flight tickets from WestJet) will be on site to help entertain as well.

Tickets are available online and are by donation. All proceeds will support Whole Way House’s community building programs and support for seniors and in the Downtown Eastside.

Visitors simply bring a lawn chair and picnic blankets and can leave knowing they’ve supported a great cause.
