Vancouver Whitecaps FC have announced that the club has re-signed Canadian midfielder Russell Teibert to a multi-year deal. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, as per MLS and club policy.

Teibert, 21, joined the Whitecaps Recidency program in 2008 and is currently the longest-serving member of club.

“Russell is a big part of our club and will continue to be for a number of years,” said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson. “Russell has all the leadership qualities to be successful for a long time. He leads by example on and off the field, is one of the fittest players in the league, and has a fantastic understanding of the game.”

The speedster has made 53 appearances in his MLS career, recording two goals and 10 assists, nine of which came in the 2013 season, tying the club record for assists in a season.
