Vancouver Whitecaps hosting big BC Place watch party for MLS Cup Final

It all comes down to this.

The Vancouver Whitecaps have clinched their spot in the MLS Cup Final, and they’ll be crowned champions if they can beat Lionel Messi and Inter Miami on Saturday.

With the match taking place in Fort Lauderdale, the Whitecaps are hosting the biggest watch party in Vancouver at BC Place. Over 8,000 fans reportedly attended the Western Conference Final watch party, but expect that number to swell considerably for the final.

Tickets to the MLS Cup Final watch party at BC Place are $15, with net proceeds going to the Whitecaps FC Foundation. They go on sale to the general public at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1.

Doors open at 10:30 a.m., before Saturday’s 11:30 a.m. kickoff, and the first 15,000 fans in attendance will receive an exclusive MLS Cup Final T-shirt.

This isn’t the first time the Whitecaps have had an important showdown with Messi and company. Vancouver beat Inter Miami twice earlier this year in the Concacaf Champions Cup semi-final. And that was before Thomas Müller came to town.

Inter Miami entered this season as the favourite to win the MLS Cup, while the Whitecaps were viewed as long shots.

ā€œI wished for this final, and here we go. I think it’s great for everyone,ā€ Müller said following Saturday’s big win in San Diego. ā€œI enjoy watching [Messi]. I have the feeling Miami is a strong team.”

Messi’s men will be favoured again on Saturday, but let’s see if Vancouver can defy the odds one more time.

ā€œSince August, it’s been a Cinderella story, and I try to keep on dancing, like Cinderella.ā€
