Over 30,000 fans expected for Whitecaps FC's return to BC Place this weekend
Vancouver Whitecaps FC are back in action at BC Place this weekend, and they’re expecting a massive turnout as they welcome a West Coast rival for a momentous game.
Whitecaps FC welcome Los Angeles FC on Saturday, Aug. 1 in a rematch of last year’s MLS Cup Playoffs Western Conference Semifinal.
Saturday’s match is the team’s 13th annual Pride Match, presented by TELUS, and will also include the possible appearance of some World Cup stars.

“We can’t wait to return in front of another packed crowd and our incredible fans,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer, in a release.
“The World Cup showcased the best of Vancouver, and BC Place looked fantastic for seven straight wonderful games. Let’s make it eight and continue the momentum by showing the best of our city once again.”
Fans cheering on the team on Aug. 1 at BC Place will help make it the 20th consecutive MLS home match with over 20,000 in attendance, and the fourth time this year with over 25,000.
The upper bowl will also be open at the stadium.

The celebrations begin with the popular Supporters March to the Match. Hundreds of game-ready fans will meet at the corner of Granville and Smithe 15 minutes before the ticket gates open to parade down to BC Place.
A half dozen players who were part of the recent FIFA World Cup could see action for either Whitecaps FC or LAFC, including Vancouver players Andrés Cubas (Paraguay) and Rayan Elloumi (Tunisia) and Los Angeles players Mathieu Choinière (Canada), Jacob Shaffelburg (Canada) and Son Heung-min (Korea Republic).
The match will also mark the return of Ryan Gauld and Sam Adekugbe to BC Place.

Whitecaps FC is off to a scorching run this season, with a record of 10W-3L-3D.
And if you’re looking for some tasty eats at a great price during the game, head to sections 201 and 227 for $5 beers, hot dogs, nachos and popcorn.
As part of their ongoing support of the Queer, Trans, and Two-Spirit community, Whitecaps FC is also partnering with QMUNITY’s “Bring Pride Home” campaign.
The team is matching community donations up to $10,000 to help with the opening of QMUNITY’s new dedicated Vancouver space at 981 Davie St.
