EDIT: Whistler Water Inc. Receives Direct Investment from Prominent Chinese Investor Group

After nearly 25 years of operations, a locally based water bottling company is shutting down its operations. Whistler Water has announced that it is closing as it is unable to remain competitive due to its relatively small size.

The company’s products are bottled under both the Whistler Water and Polaris brands. Its water source is north of Whistler at Spetch Creek, which is fed by the glacial mineral melt waters of Place Glacier. The company holds a license to extract approximately 1,000 cubic metres of water per day.

The water is then transported to a Burnaby facility where it is bottled for consumers. About three quarters of the water is sold to B.C. consumers and the rest is exported to Asia.

The closure will be phased over the next several months and affects 65 employees.
