Whistler gets first major snow dump ahead of upcoming ski season

If you’re looking forward to the 2025 winter ski and snowboard season, things look promising over at Whistler Blackcomb after a big helping of snow.
Whistler Blackcomb’s upcoming ski and snowboard season is set to launch on Nov. 21, and earlier this week, it got its first significant drop of snow, which it shared in a Facebook post.
“It just keeps getting better! Our snowmaking teams have joined forces with Mother Nature to drag that snowline down the mountain. We took advantage of yesterday’s brief sunny break to capture the magic in the alpine,” Blackcomb shared in another post.
Following the dump of snow earlier this week, the forecast looks to continue to be full of precipitation, but not the white kind.
Whistler and parts of the Sea to Sky Highway are currently under several weather warnings related to rainfall.
Things will dip into freezing temperatures during the week, but there’s currently no further snow anticipated as far as the Whistler weather forecast goes.

There are still several weeks until the ski season begins, so there’s still lots of time for Mother Nature to work her magic.
If you’re wondering when Vancouver might get its first dump of snow, we recently spoke to an Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist about that, who informed us that the city isn’t likely to get any significant winter weather until December at the earliest.
That doesn’t rule out some freak snow days if temperatures dip low enough in November, but the current outlook suggests temperatures will be above normal that month.
