Winter may slowly be winding down, but Whistler Blackcomb is still top of mind for those looking for the best ski resorts in the world.

The popular B.C. destination was recently named one of the 20 best ski resorts in the world by Travel + Leisure.

The prestigious list was assembled by the publication’s editors and travel experts, who curated the list from thousands of ski resorts in more than 60 nations.

“Whistler is the place to go for a larger-than-life ski and snowboard experience,” said Travel + Leisure. “It’s home to vast and varied terrain, which makes sense, considering it’s the largest ski resort in North America.

“And while 20 per cent of its trails are marked for beginners, Whistler really is a seasoned skier’s paradise, as 35 per cent of the trails are marked as intermediate and a whopping 45 percent are roughly divided between advanced terrain and experts-only.”

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler also got a shoutout, with Travel + Leisure stating that it offered the best views of the mountain every morning.

Whistler was one of only two Canadian ski resorts to make the list, with Tremblant in Quebec also receiving a nod.

Visitors to the resort municipality will find lots to enjoy, including the best resort spa in Canada at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler.

And foodies can look forward to the new Italian restaurant called Trattoria Di Como, coming to the former home of Joe Fortes’ Whistler outpost.

According to its website, the restaurant will be split into different sections, including the Loggia (main dining room featuring Italian decor), Fireplace Room (a semi-private space with views into Trattoria Di Como’s open kitchen), Library (fully private dining room with personalized menus and wine experiences), and The Garden (an al fresco dining experience at its poolside garden).

Additionally, in the future, it will launch an intimate lounge called The Club and the Club Terrace, which will offer views of the village and the alpine garden.
