When BC Sports Hall of Fame will reopen to the public after World Cup eviction
Vancouver will soon have one of its most treasured museums back and open to the public.
The BC Sports Hall of Fame has been closed to the public since May after being kicked out of BC Place during the FIFA World Cup.Ā It was a move that sparked some controversy in the community, with curator Jason Beck taking to social media to vent his frustrations with the temporary eviction.
“What an absolute joke. Maybe the worst day I’ve had in 23+ years working at the BC Sports Hall of Fame,” Beck shared on X at the time.
Now that the tournament has come to an end, the process of moving artifacts back into the museum has begun, and we now know when the BC Sports Hall of Fame will officially open back up for the public.
Daily Hive has confirmed that the museum will start welcoming back sports fans at BC Place starting on August 1.

The BC Sports Hall of Fame has been a staple in the Vancouver area since it was established back in 1966 by Eric Whitehead, making this year its 60th anniversary. Over that span, the hall has inducted a total of 406 individuals and 60 teams.
Apart from the inductees, the museum also boasts an impressive collection of athletic artifacts from the province’s brightest sporting moments. That includes exhibits focused on the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, Terry Fox, and even a unique set of artifacts dedicated to the province’s Indigenous history.
The BC Sports Hall of Fame’s original location was at the BC Pavilion on the Pacific National Exhibition Grounds. The museum then moved to BC Place in 1992, where it has been ever since.
