After making a splash in Vancouver earlier this year with the Web Summit tech conference, the event is coming back to the city next year and the year after.
Vancouver received the honour of being the first North American city to host the Web Summit conference earlier this year, with the event taking place between May 27 and May 30.
The event drew over 15,000 attendees to the city, making it one of the largest conferences ever held in Vancouver. Additionally, the event drew some of the biggest names and CEOs in tech to the city, like Microsoft President Brad Smith and Bluesky CEO Jay Graber.
Daily Hive reached out to the City of Vancouver for information about the future of the Web Summit, and we gained valuable insights.
“It was confirmed in 2024 that Vancouver had been awarded the opportunity to host Web Summit for three consecutive years (from 2025 through 2027),” the City told Daily Hive.
“The city’s successful bid reflects its growing global reputation as a hub for innovation, talent, and investment.”
Pre-registration is already open for the 2026 event, which will take place from May 11 to May 14.
The City of Vancouver states that Metro Vancouver is home to one of North America’s fastest-growing tech ecosystems, indicating that there are nearly 99,000 highly skilled workers and a 31 percent increase in talent over the past five years.
“From 2018 to 2023, over $31 billion USD was invested into tech firms headquartered in the region, underscoring the area’s appeal to global investors. Web Summit Vancouver is more than just a conferenceāit’s a global stage to showcase our thriving tech sector and convert that spotlight into meaningful investment and partnership opportunities,” the City added.
The 2025 event even saw a couple of NBA stars in attendance, including Metta Sandiford-Artest (previously known as Metta World Peace) and JaVale McGee.

Before next year’s Vancouver event, Web Summit is making a stop in Lisbon in November.
Apart from Vancouver and Lisbon, Web Summit also has events in Rio and Qatar.
Another huge event kicks off in Vancouver tomorrow, as the International AA convention begins its multi-day affair, which Daily Hive has been told is the largest convention the city has ever hosted.
