Warm and sunny weather returning to Metro Vancouver this weekend

Dec 20 2017, 1:16 am

Don’t put those short sleeves and shorts away just yet, one last hurrah for summer could be just around the corner with the arrival of more warm and sunny weather in time for the weekend.

According to Environment Canada, these conditions are forecasted due to a massive high pressure area that has formed over Western Canada. It has pushed the jet stream into northern Canada.

Temperatures in Metro Vancouver will spike as the weekend approaches, with a temperature of 21°C by the water and 25°C inland on Thursday. And on Friday and Saturday, temperatures will continue to soar with a high of 23°C and 27°C inland.

Similar conditions are expected elsewhere in the South Coast, including a high of 30°C near Pemberton. Wet and cooler weather will return to the region early next week.

Forecasters are expecting another warmer and drier than normal winter this year due to the expanding area of warm water in the Pacific Ocean, caused by El Nino.
