A suspect allegedly involved in two home invasions in Yaletown has been identified by police.

According to VPD, the first incident took place earlier this month, when officers were called to a home in the area of Nelson and Richards streets. In that case, a man broke into a townhome, threatening the homeowner with a knife and then fled the scene.

The latest incident took place on Wednesday morning at approximately 3:30 am, officers were called to a residence near Pacific Boulevard and Cambie Street in response to a break-in. The suspect had a knife and attempted to rob the victim, who fled to their bathroom and managed to call 9-1-1.

“This type of incident is extremely concerning for police as someone’s personal safety is at risk,” said VPD Const. Tania Visintin.

“Through some diligent police work, our investigators were able to determine that the same suspect was responsible for both incidents.”

Charges have been recommended to Crown counsel for review and approval.
