Police have arrested a suspect connected to the stranger attack in Vancouver’s West End.

The assault occurred on Saturday, February 13, at approximately 9:40 pm. The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says that the 24-year-old victim was shopping on Davie Street and was walking home.

She was reportedly grabbed from behind and attacked by a man on Maxine Lane – the south lane of Burnaby Street. The suspect and victim both fell to the ground and she began to scream. The arrest was made on Thursday morning, less than one week after the assault took place.

“Early this morning, investigators arrested a 57-year-old man and will be recommending charges to Crown counsel,” says Constable Tania Visintin in an emailed statement.

“Investigators are pleased with the help they have received from the public in identifying this suspect.”
