VIFF's most popular 2024 festival films are back in Vancouver this month

The colder weather in Vancouver means it’s the perfect season for curling up with a good movie. That’s why we’re thrilled that the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) is bringing back some of the finest offerings from this year’s event for a limited time only.
Head to VIFF Centre – Vancity Theatre for encore screenings of some of the most well-received movies from the 2024 festival lineup.
And not only is it your chance to see these amazing films once again or for the first time, you’ll also be doing it in the comfort of VIFF Centre’s newly upgraded theatre.

“One of the great things about film festivals is that they serve as a kind of supercharged test screening – you come away with knowledge of how the movies play with audiences,” said Tom Charity, VIFF Centre Year Round Programmer. “So it’s a pleasure to be able to bring back some of the most well received movies from this year’s VIFF. And to showcase them in our new state of the art, Dolby Atmos cinema.”
The lineup of VIFF 2024 films receiving an encore screening in November and December include
Bird – November 15 to 23
Andrea Arnold’s latest film, Bird, tells the tale of 12-year-old Bailey (Nykiya Adams), who lives in a squat near the English seaside. She seeks an adventure with a charming stranger named Bird (Franz Rogowski) after she is neglected by her chaotic father (Barry Keoghan).
All We Imagine as Light – November 22 to December 1

All We Imagine as Light
All We Imagine as Light is the Cannes Grand Prix winner described as a romantic heartbreaker about three nurses at different stages of life. The Mumbai-set debut by Payal Kapadia is sure to be a future classic.
Flow – November 29 to December 8
A solitary black cat survives a tsunami and must confront his fear of water in Flow. The kitty is joined by a group of misfit animals in the flooded world during the wordless, enchanting animated feature.
Queens (Reinas) – November 29 to December 11

Queens
Set in Lima, Perú, in the early 1990s, Queens (Reinas) is the story of absentee father Carlos “El Loco” Molina, who tries to earn his way back into his daughters’ lives before their mother moves them to Minnesota. The tender family drama won the Generation Kplus Grand Prix at Berlinale 2024.
VIFF is also showcasing several special live music events, including VIFF Live: Feven Kidane Quartet: Music Inspired by the Film Soundtrack to a Coup D’Etat on November 16, VIFF Live: Vince Mai Plays Chet Baker + Bruce Weber’s Let’s Get Lost on November 24, and Memoir of a Snail from November 22 to 28
“Alongside these festival hits we’re doing weekly VIFF Live events with musicians like Feven Kidane, Vince Mai, and Anju Singh, an outstanding line up of documentaries, added Charity. And Total Cinema continues with screenings of Fight Club and Starship Troopers.”
