What: The International Women’s Day March is being held on Saturday, March 8, in Downtown Vancouver and is organized by a local, grassroots coalition with support from SFU’s Women’s Centre and the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies department.

The event will begin at 1 pm at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square at Vancouver Art Gallery. Everyone is welcome to participate in the Vancouver International Women’s Day March, including an Indigenous welcome ceremony, speeches from local community leaders and activists, and a musician performance.

Jelly Roll

What: Get ready to jam out because country superstar Jelly Roll is coming to Vancouver this winter with his new tour.

Jelly Roll’s The Beautifully Broken Great Northern Tour will come to Rogers Arena on March 8, 2025. His most recent album, Beautifully Broken, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 All Genre Chart and #3 on the Billboard Canadian Album Chart and spent two weeks as the #1 Canadian country album.

International Women’s Day Open House at YWCA Health + Fitness Centre

What: YWCA Health + Fitness Centre is celebrating International Women’s Day by opening its doors to the community for complimentary workouts. Take a dip in the pool, work out in the weight rooms, or discover the many offerings in the fitness studios.

Group fitness classes must be booked in advance with Member Services by calling 604-895-5777. Guests must also be 15 or older and present a valid photo ID during the visit. You can also become a YWCA Health + Fitness Centre member on this day and save $50 with no joiner fee.

Vancouver Aquarium presents Survival of the Slowest

What: Vancouver Aquarium’s new exhibit, Survival of the Slowest, is celebrating all things slow in the animal kingdom by giving you a sneak peek behind some of nature’s most inventive creatures. From now until Monday, September 1, this limited-time exhibit lets you step into a world where being slow, small, and even weak can be a powerful survival strategy.

Throughout the exhibit, you can dive into interactive displays to uncover how these naturally slow critters, like the two-toed sloth, have adapted to survive in the wild. Relax into daily Slow & Tell animal presentations so you can chill with the coolest sluggish creatures like the four-toed hedgehog and the armoured armadillo.

Coastal Dance Festival 2025

What: The 18th Annual Coastal Dance Festival brings Indigenous artists from across the country and around the world together to celebrate and showcase Indigenous dance. Highlights include artist-sharing events, festival stage performances, and more.

What: The City of North Vancouver’s free Shipyards Skate Plaza is welcoming skaters until March 2025. Skaters of all ages can glide on the approximately 12,000 sq ft surface daily from noon to 8 p.m. And fun can be had no matter the weather – the Shipyards Skate Plaza is covered by a retractable roof.

What: A brand new festival is debuting in Surrey next week that will help the community celebrate Ramadan while offering delicious food, cultural activities, and more late into the night.

Ramadan Fest B.C. is happening at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds from Wednesday, March 5, to Sunday, March 9. And festival organizers bill it as Surrey’s biggest late late night market.

Gender Equity in Media Festival

What: Gender Equity in Media Society Vancouver presents its 20th annual festival from March 5 to 9 at VIFF Centre. It’s your chance to catch rising film stars and support women and gender-diverse filmmakers onscreen.

There are 32 films from nine countries in this year’s programming, including world premieres, features, shorts and more. GEM Fest will also include receptions and panels for fans to check out.

2025 Pokémon Regional Championships
