Richmond Garlic Festival

What: The Richmond Garlic Fest returns to Terra Nova Rural Park on Saturday, Aug. 15 for a day of local food, live music, family activities and all things garlic.

Enjoy live birds-of-prey demonstrations, environmental and community exhibitors, local vendors, artists and artisans, and plenty of garlic-themed fun. Admission is by donation, with proceeds supporting the Sharing Farm’s work growing and sharing fresh produce with Richmond residents experiencing food insecurity.

Daniel Caesar

What: Fast-rising music superstar Daniel Caesar is bringing the Son of Spergy Tour to Rogers Arena on Sunday, Aug. 16.

The Asia and North American tour is in support of Caesar’s latest album, Son of Spergy, which debuted on the Billboard 200 at number four and on the Billboard R&B Album Chart at number one.

Caesar is also a Grammy winner who has performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, has two Tiny Desk Concerts under his belt, and scored big at the 2026 Junos for Best Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

Arts Alive Festival

What: In Langley, the 30th annual Arts Alive Festival is closing Fraser Highway between 204th and 206th streets on Saturday for a free, family event that will showcase over 200 visual and performing artists.

Stop by to see live music, artists and artisans, a children’s fun zone, and surprise performances throughout the day.

Vines Art Festival

What: The 12th annual multidisciplinary Vines Art Festival features visual and performing artists showcasing their talents at parks throughout Vancouver. The festival states that it is rooted in Indigenous knowledge, queer-hearted, and neurodiverse-minded, with attendees able to enjoy free live music, dance, storytelling and more.

Bard on the Beach

What: Bard on the Beach is one of Canada’s largest not-for-profit, professional Shakespeare festivals. Presented in a magnificent setting on the waterfront in Vancouver’s Vanier Park, the festival offers Shakespeare’s plays, related dramas, and several special events from June through September each year.

This year’s offerings include The Merry Wives of Windsor, Macbeth, Goblin:Oedipus, and Antigone.

Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Show

What: The popular Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Show returns for its 21st year on Saturday, Aug. 15 and Sunday, Aug. 16, with hundreds of collectible vehicles showcased.

The Saturday night Car Cruise and BBQ will see hundreds of participating vehicles cruising around the neighbourhood along a route where PoCo residents can watch and cheer. There will be some road closures in place to help facilitate the event.

Vancouver Rise vs Halifax Tides

Port Moody Car Free Day

What: Leave the car at home and walk, bike, or take public transit to the celebrations on St. John’s Street between Queens and Moody Street.

St. John’s Street will be closed to all vehicle traffic between Douglas and Moody streets from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the family-friendly event. Make a day of it by checking out the live music and performances, plenty of food vendors, and over 100 businesses, artisans, and non-profit groups.

Vancouver Canadians vs Tri-City Dust Devils

What: Baseball is back at Nat Bailey Stadium! Join the Vancouver Canadians all season long and cheer on the future of the Blue Jays. You can enjoy the game while enjoying hot dogs, burgers, popcorn, and all other ballpark favourites, along with a cold beer. Plus, don’t miss the exciting theme nights.

Naomi Osaka: The Second Set

What: Kat Jayme, documentary filmmaker behind acclaimed works like The Grizzlie Truth, I’m Just Here for the Riot and Finding Big Country, is coming to Vancouver for a screening of Naomi Osaka: The Second Set. The theatrical director’s cut of the film will showcase the Japanese tennis great as she prepares for a return to the court after becoming a mother. There will also be a Q&A with Jame during the event.

GranVino Wine Walk 

What: GranVino Wine Walk is back on Aug. 15, from noon to 6 p.m. This will be a ticketed, walkable wine-and-nosh tour where local boutiques pair up with premier B.C. wineries to host fun in-store experiences and special promos.

More Than a Movie

What: Kids Up Front Vancouver, in partnership with BC Place and PavCo, will host its More Than a Movie event on Sunday, Aug. 16.

Families and individuals can purchase tickets to see Pixar’s Hoppers on the world’s second-largest four-sided centre-hung HD video board.

Each ticket purchased includes the admission of a youth from an equity-seeking group to attend for free. Each ticket, donated or purchased, includes admission to the movie as well as a hot dog, popcorn, and a fizzy drink.

Burnaby Village Museum – Summer Season

What: Burnaby Village Museum is open for a new summer season, and longtime visitors and new guests will discover a variety of new exhibits, entertainment, and activities to enjoy.

The beloved open-air historical attraction transports people back in time and lets them experience life in a 1920s village, complete with heritage and recreated buildings and staff dressed in the period’s fashion.
