It’s going to be a wet week in Vancouver, and along with cooler nighttime weather comes a chance of snow.
Much of Metro Vancouver faced a relatively mild winter, and while conditions did get chilly, there was no white Christmas nor a significant helping of the white stuff at any point.
In conversations Daily Hive had with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) over the course of the end of 2025, meteorologists shared that it wasn’t likely we would get much snow, and that if we did, it wouldn’t likely come until the new year.
The new year is here, and there are actually two chances of snow this week, which could end up just being rain.
ECCC says that temperatures will hover between 6 and 9˚C for most of the week, but overnight lows will drop down to 1˚C by Wednesday. Between Sunday and Wednesday, overnight temps will be quite chilly.
Rain is forecast for the next seven days, with overnight flurries possible on two of those days.
The first chance of flurries for Vancouver is this weekend, on Sunday night and then again on Wednesday next week.

Temperatures have been so mild in the region that Cypress didn’t open until Dec. 19, a late opening for the ski and snowboard spot.
