Metro Vancouver temperatures jumping this week after a possibly wet start | Daily Hive

Summer is winding down in Metro Vancouver, but temperatures are set to rise for parts of the region after a possibly wet start to this week’s weather.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), temperatures will remain cool on Monday, Sept. 14, with highs reaching just 17°C.

However, during the mid-week period, inland temperatures will hit 22°C on Tuesday and up to 26°C on Thursday.

Before we get back to shorts weather, you may need to keep a raincoat handy.

“There is an upper ridge off the Pacific that is bringing a northwesterly flow and an unsettled pattern,” explained Janelle Gergely, ECCC meteorologist. “There are a few systems moving through that are giving a chance of showers.”

“As the upper ridge moves onshore, we will see seasonal or slightly above-seasonal temperatures in southern B.C.”

Inland temperatures will stay warm until Friday, when it is expected to reach upwards of 22°C.

Closer to the water, daytime temperatures in Vancouver will reach a high of 21°C and 22°C during the midweek period, with overnight lows dipping to 11°C on Wednesday

Temperatures this week align with ECCC’s Canadian Climate Normals data, which show that the daily average high temperature in September for Vancouver is close to 19°C, with overnight lows down to 12°C.

September also averages 71.4 mm of rainfall.
