Sunshine and warm temperatures are on their way back to Vancouver this week, but we’ll have to get through an unsettled forecast to get there.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is forecasting that the region will experience a chance of showers to start the new week.
Temperatures are hovering in the low 20s with a mainly cloudy outlook for Monday and Tuesday. But things are expected to brighten up soon, according to ECCC meteorologist Matt Loney.

“We’ve got an upper trough over the northeast Pacific, rotating out there and sending cloud cover for much of the coast,” Loney told Daily Hive. “There are showers further north, but for the south coast, the precipitation threat is mostly over.
“The temperature is within the normal range for the short term until mid-week, then we’ll see the mercury rise as an upper ridge is established in southern B.C.”

Vancouver temperatures are set to reach 24°C on Friday and up to 26°C on Sunday.
But temperatures inland are forecast to reach a high of 30°C on Saturday, with blue skies in the weekend forecast.

“The warming trend will continue until at least this weekend,” added Loney. “It looks like Thursday to Sunday will be bright with a sunny stretch of summer weather.”
It’s a nice change of pace from the recent deluge of rain that Metro Vancouver received last week. According to a rainfall warning issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), parts of the region were estimated to receive 50 mm of rain, with up to 80 mm of rain at higher terrains on Friday and Friday night.
